Chris Knuckey is a Principal Ecologist, zoologist and Director of Envisage Environmental, with more than 15 years of experience delivering vertebrate fauna assessments, threatened species investigations and environmental approvals support across Western Australia. He has worked extensively throughout the State's major bioregions, including the Pilbara, Kimberley, Mid West, Wheatbelt, Goldfields, South West and Great Southern, supporting projects ranging from small-scale developments through to some of Australia's largest mining, infrastructure and energy projects.

Chris is recognised as one of Western Australia's leading bat ecologists and vertebrate fauna specialists, with particular expertise in threatened bat ecology, vertebrate fauna impact assessment and conservation-significant species management. As a WA bat specialist and experienced Pilbara zoologist, he has led and contributed to some of the State's most significant research, monitoring and management programs involving the ghost bat (*Macroderma gigas*), Pilbara leaf-nosed bat (*Rhinonicteris aurantia*), northern quoll (*Dasyurus hallucatus*) and other threatened fauna. His work has directly contributed to improving scientific understanding of threatened species ecology and informing environmental approvals for major resource developments across Western Australia.

Throughout his career, Chris has worked closely with leading resource companies including BHP, Rio Tinto, Hancock Iron Ore, Fortescue and Roy Hill, providing specialist advice on complex environmental challenges, threatened species management and regulatory approvals. He is particularly sought after for projects requiring detailed vertebrate fauna impact assessment, strategic environmental advice and innovative approaches to ecological monitoring and management.

Chris remains actively involved in ecological research and innovation and has co-authored more than 24 peer-reviewed scientific publications relating to vertebrate fauna ecology, threatened species management and environmental assessment. By combining strong scientific credentials with practical project experience, he helps clients navigate environmental risk, regulatory complexity and sustainable development outcomes with confidence.
