Dean Thorburn is a aquatic biologist who has worked on rivers and coastal areas of northern and south-western Australia for close to 20 years. Dean has a B.Sc in Biological Science and Marine Science and completed a PhD which studied trophic flow in a monsoonal river and the ecology of sawfish (Pristis spp.) and river sharks (Glyphis spp,). He established Indo-Pacific Environmental in 2006 and continues to work extensively on aquatic and marine habitats and fauna of the Pilbara and Kimberley and throughout the Northern Territory. Dean has extensive experience in the design and implementation of aquatic and marine monitoring programs and studies of fish and fisheries including taxa afforded protection under State and Commonwealth legislation. His business has conducted numerous impact assessments and prepared approval documentation relating to aquatic and marine environments throughout Australia.
