Profile
Giles is a skilled environmental practitioner with specialist skills in environmental planning, environmental impact assessment, preparation of statutory environmental approval documentation, environmental constraints and due diligence assessments, and provision of strategic environmental advice to project proponents. He has undertaken detailed environmental impact assessments for State significant infrastructure and land development projects under Sections 38 and 48A of the EP Act. He is cognisant of the EPAs key drivers of when setting the level of assessment for referred proposals and proactively undertakes pre-referral engagement with the EPA to address likely key issues ahead of referral. Giles prepares high-quality clearing permit applications and EPBC Act referrals always seeking to avoid key environmental features and minimise clearing envelopes, wherever practicable, to reduce the likelihood of environmental offsets being applied to the action as an outcome of State and Commonwealth environmental assessment processes.
