Profile

Jenny Wilcox has more than 20 years' experience and is the Principal Zoologist at Western Wildlife, a specialist consultancy providing terrestrial vertebrate surveys throughout Western Australia. She both supervises and undertakes a lead role in all fauna work undertaken by Western Wildlife. This allows Jenny to have a personal understanding of every project from planning and budgeting through to completion of the final report. When further personnel are required for a survey, Western Wildlife calls on a range of trusted sub-contractors, each with specialist fauna skills and each with many years experience in fauna consulting work in Western Australia. Diverse skill sets are matched to provide teams of two, four or more zoologists for large field surveys.

Jenny has undertaken work throughout Western Australia, including the Kimberley, Pilbara, Mid-west, Desert regions, South-west, Wheatbelt and Perth Metropolitan Region. She specialises in providing detailed, basic and targeted terrestrial fauna surveys, and can also undertake surveys with SRE Invertebrate fauna by subcontracting the relevant expertise. She has provided targeted surveys for Chuditch, Northern Quoll, Brush-tailed Mulgara, Bilby, Western Brush Wallaby, Pilbara Leaf-nosed Bat, Brush-tailed Phascogale, Quenda, Night Parrot, Carnaby's Cockatoo, Baudin's Cockatoo, Forest Red-tailed Black-cockatoo, Malleefowl, Migratory shorebirds, Gouldian Finch, Great Desert Skink and Pilbara Olive Python. She is personally experienced in a range of field methods, including birds surveys, trapping using pitfall, funnel, Elliott and cage traps, camera traps, use of Anabat Swift bat detectors, SM4 passive acoustic recorders and targeted searches for secondary signs such as burrows, diggings, scats and tracks.
