Dr Mike Bamford completed post-graduate research in small vertebrate ecology in 1986 and has been the principal scientist of MJ & AR Bamford Consulting Ecologists since 1989. He has undertaken studies throughout Western Australia, the Northern Territory and in Queensland for industry and local, state and federal government agencies. Projects have included assessments of the conservation value of urban bushland, fauna surveys in remote locations (including the Great Sandy Desert, Pilbara, Eastern Goldfields, interior of the Northern Territory, Cape York Peninsula and Christmas Island) ) and long-term ecological studies monitoring fauna populations during rehabilitation.

  • Proof-reading and editing of scientific reports and articles for a more general audience

  • Preparation of information brochures
  • Management of wetland ecosystems
  • Surveys and sampling of: invertebrates, frogs, reptiles, birds (censussing and banding, including waterbirds; approved to use mist-nets and cannon nets) and mammals
